Ken-Ton Music Camp Wraps Up With Big Concert
News

BUFFALO, NY--  For the past five weeks, more than 400 students from 29 schools in Western New York participated in the Ken-Ton Summer Music Camp at Kenmore East.

They wrapped up the camp with a big concert in the auditorium on Thursday in front of families and friends.

Both students and teachers found the experience very rewarding.

"The jazz improv class was great. Being able to perform a solo in the concert in front of my family and friends is icing on the cake,' said 14-year-old Kenmore East Freshman Danny Bub.

"I hope students became friends with someone they didn't know and have a life-long appreciation for this beautiful art form that I love. Our district is passionate about music and has been extremely supportive of this program. The administration, under the leadership of Superintendent Mark P. Mondanaro, cares deeply about our music students, wants them to succeed, and gives children the opportunities to develop the talents they possess," said Kenmore East High School Band Director and Music Teacher Phil Aguglia.

The students experienced many different forms of music, including:  young band, concert band, jazz bands, drum line, jazz improv, young string orchestra, advanced string orchestra, fiddle group, music theory, vocal improv, vocal jazz ensemble and chorus.
