Victorian Ornament Workshop
Victorian Ornament Workshop

The late 1800s gave birth to many of our modern Christmas customs, including Christmas trees. But the Victorians had their own unique aesthetic, and decorations from this period are quite distinctive. Learn the history and art behind Victorian Christmas ornaments while you make one of your own in this special hands-on workshop.

This year’s workshop will demonstrate how to make a Victorian-inspired hot air balloon ornament using period appropriate reproduction materials. Participants will have the opportunity to make this ornament or use their imagination to design their own creation, with the help of vintage examples for inspiration. Cookies and cider, Christmas carols, and a ride on the carrousel round out a wonderful afternoon of holiday fun. Bring a friend or come make a new one, and share some Christmas memories together.

The workshop takes place Sunday, December 1 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. Tickets are $10 per person (no coupons or passes are accepted for this event) and pre-registration and payment are required by Friday, November 29. Program is limited to a maximum enrollment of 20, with a minimum enrollment of 5 needed. Due to skill and supplies, this program is suitable for ages 16 and up only. Call 716-693-1885 or email education@carrouselmuseum.org today to reserve your place at this unique holiday event.
