Buffalo Niagara Film Festival Seeking Volunteers

 BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Niagara Film Festival is currently seeking volunteers for its March and April events including the Festival itself on April 8th.

Individuals looks to gain valuable event management experience, earn community services hours, network, and have fun while supporting the mission of a nonprofit are encouraged to apply.

Areas of need include: answering questions, directing patrons or industry delegates, tearing tickets, checking passes, helping to set up and run various activities, and greeting Festival attendees.

A mystery is afoot! Collect the clues and interview a different character suspect at each winery on the trail to solve the murder mystery. Submit your guess at your last winery. Correct guesses will be entered in a drawing to win some great prizes. (You do not need to visit each winery to submit your guess).

101st International Women’s Day Observed at TCC Buffalo

With International Women's Day approaching, Turkish Cultural Center (TCC) Buffalo has organized a “Turkish Coffee Night” event last Friday, March 4th on the theme of “Women’s Significance and Role in Turkish Culture”.

As the guests of 2011’s 2nd coffee night event, consisting mostly of women sharing common Buffalonian identity beyond their different cultural backgrounds; people has filled the conference room of TCC to take a part in this special occasion. Invitees of the coffee night shared peaceful moments and warm conversations with each other while tasting delicious appetizers from Turkish cuisine.

Home County Folk Festival is Music to the Ears of WNYers

We all know how Western New Yorker’s love a good festival, so you’ll be pleased to learn that preparations are well under way for nearby London, Ontario’s famously popular Home County Folk Festival, July 15-17.

The 38th “Retro Revolution” festival, held in beautiful Victoria Park, is wheelchair accessible and close to Richmond Row shopping and downtown hotels. This admission by donation event features 25 of Canada's best roots, traditional and indie folk/pop acts. Blues, bluegrass, Celtic and country influenced artists are also presented.

Slaughter Announces 2011 Congressional Arts Competition

Rochester, NY -- Congresswoman Louise M. Slaughter, Co-Chair of the Congressional Arts Caucus, is proud to announce that works of art are now being accepted for the 2011 Congressional Arts Competition. The competition is open to high school students who reside in or attend school in the 28th Congressional District. To find out if you live or study in the 28th district click here

Once again, the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center (NACC) will be hosting the competition for Rep. Slaughter.

This year’s competition will be on Saturday March 26 in the NACC’s Grand Hall Showcase.  The winning piece from each district will be on display for one year in the US Capitol. The exhibition features exceptional artwork from congressional districts across the nation.
