St. John the Baptist Student Headed to Albany

Only 100 students are chosen to compete in the New York State division of the National Geographic Geography Bee, and the St. John's champion is one of those 100!  On April 1st, seventh grader, Eoin Rapp, will travel to Albany and compete for the right to represent New York in the national championship.  If he is victorious, he will appear on national television in a competition hosted by none other than Jeopardy’s Alex Trebeck!  Congratulations, Eoin!

KENMORE, NY - The Sclafani family’s St. Joseph’s Day Table tradition will continue on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 beginning at 1pm. Held annually to provide for the less fortunate, a variety of meatless Italian delicacies will be served at Frank’s Sunny Italy Family Restaurant, 2491 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore.

As a way expressing their thanks and giving back to the community, everyone is welcome and admission is free. Donations will be accepted to help support Niagara Hospice in their work of providing comfort, dignity and choice for patients faced with end of life challenges.

Heart Thrift Shop Offers Discount to Law Enforcement Officers

BUFFALO, NY- Heart Thrift Shop which operates in conjunction of Hearts for the Homeless of WNY will be offering a 20% discount, indefinitely, to all law enforcement officers.

The thrift store which is located at 890 Tonawanda St. in Buffalo’s Riverside neighborhood sells both new and gently used clothing and houseware items.

The discount is in honor of a retired police officer who served the city of Buffalo and who is the father of one of a Hearts Thrift Shops long time employee.

Turkish Culinary Art Classes @TCC Buffalo

The Turkish Cooking Classes will start soon at the Turkish Cultural Center - Buffalo on 1517 Kenmore Avenue.

The classes will be held every other Wednesday between 6:00pm-8:00pm starting on March 16th 2011. There will be a total of 6 classes ending on May 25th. We will learn authentic Turkish recipes, prepare & cook them all together during the classes, and of course taste them at the end!
