Depew Police DWI Charge | Crime
*Driving While Intoxicated*
At approximately 2:00am during the overnight hours, patrols were dispatched to a report of a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole on Muskingum near Laverack. Upon arrival, patrols began their investigation, questioning the driver and two passengers of the vehicle. Upon speaking with the 22yr old female driver, the investigating officer noticed that she was slurring her speech, her eyes were blood shot and glossy, and there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. After failing several field sobriety tests, the driver was placed into custody and returned to police headquarters where she was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, along with other various NYS Vehicle & Traffic Law violations. A male passenger was also taken into custody on scene for Disorderly Conduct. Both parties are due back in court in March to answer to their respective charges. NYSEG is currently on location replacing the power pole that was sheared off at the base. Fortunately, nobody was hurt as a result of the incident.
