North Tonawanda Male Convicted Tax Evasion

BUFFALO, N.Y.-Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that David B. Schmitt, 65, of North Tonawanda, NY, who was convicted of tax evasion, was sentenced to 30 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford. The defendant was also ordered to pay restitution totaling $748,459.75.

BUFFALO, N.Y.-Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced today that Samuel Hernandez, of Dunkirk, NY, who was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, cocaine, was sentenced to 27 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.

Aggressive Phone Scamsters Possibly Targeting Job Seekers

NATIONAL: Town of Tonawanda Police have recently posted information about phone based scams involving a call center where phonr operators are attempting to get individuals to be agreeable.

The specific posting showed that individuals whom answer in the affirmative are then digitally recorded without the New York State resident's consent and this recording is used along with credit card, or bank account information to commit fraud against the individual that has been called.

This system does not process recertifications for New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County or Westchester County permits. If you currently have a New York City, Nassau County, Suffolk County or Westchester County permit, you must follow the requirements that are in place in your county, rather than use this recertification system.
