Team Up at Paws in the Park to Help Homeless Pets

On September 28, the SPCA Serving Erie County will be hosting its 20th annual Paws in the Park dog walk at scenic Beaver Island State Park.  Animal lovers are invited to take part in this two mile walk to support the varied programs and services of the SPCA.  Afterwards, festivities include a boxed lunch from Anderson's, dog contests, pet-related vendors, bounce houses, and more.

According to Bethany Kloc, Event Coordinator, "Guests at Paws in the Park say that being a part of a team is the best way to experience this event.  There is such a sense of team spirit, knowing that you are helping us to save the lives of thousands of animals."

To form a team, someone should be designated as the captain and register the team name at YourSPCA.org. Participants begin the registration process by clicking Register Now, then Join a Team.   Team registrations are $30 for adults and $10 for children ages 6 to 16.  Supporters who cannot attend the event can participate as a virtual walker by selecting the Cat Napper option.

A minimum of four people is needed to establish a team.  In the past, teams have consisted of business colleagues, church members, student groups and, of course, families.

The SPCA expects nearly 1,000 people to walk at Paws in the Park.  Proceeds are critical to helping the organization to care for the 14,000 animals it takes in each year.  For more information on Paws in the Park, or any of the programs and services that the SPCA offers the community, visit YourSPCA.org
