Families Touched by MS Hopes to Help Multiple Sclerosis Patients

Families Touched by MS Hopes to Help Multiple Sclerosis Patients

What began as an event to help a friend has turned into a yearly mission to help those with multiple sclerosis.

The third annual Families Touched by MS fundraiser will be held from 6:30 p.m. to midnight Saturday, April 2, in the auditorium at St. Mary’s High School, 142 Laverack Ave., Lancaster.

The effort began three years ago, when a group of St. Mary’s and Lancaster High School friends started fundraising to help a friend who had been battling multiple sclerosis for more than a decade. The friend required handicap-accessible renovations at his home, so his comrades formed Families Touched by MS to run a fundraiser to make the renovations a reality.

With the success of the first event, those who formed Families Touched by MS decided to create a not-for-profit group of the same name and operate an annual fundraiser to help the Lancaster-Depew community, organizers said.
