Primordial Strength to Offer Concussion Reduction Seminar to Area Athletes

Sports-related concussions have been all over the news lately, thanks in large part to some serious injuries that have occurred in recent NFL and NHL games.

From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, December 11, Primordial Strength Inc. — a leader in neck and trapezius training and the anti-concussion movement — will conduct a Concussion Reduction Seminar through Neck and Trap Training at the Lancaster Elks Lodge, 33 Legion Parkway. The cost is $40, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the annual Trench Trophy award event. The trophy is presented annually to Western New York’s high school “Lineman of the Year.”

Festival of Trees Will Provide Funds to Purchase New Electronic Fetal

Proceeds from the 2010 Festival of Trees will fund new Electronic Fetal Monitors for Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.   This gift, made possible in part by event sponsors like CGF Anesthesiology Associates, PC, Mark IV Industries Foundation, Tops Friendly Markets, Fisher-Price and the physician members of University at Buffalo Pediatric Associates, Inc., will enable the Hospital to replace all the monitors with the latest and most state-of-the–art equipment.  Constant monitoring and examination during the labor process will allow doctors to monitor progress and ensure the safest possible delivery with minimal complication for both baby and mother.    

Pet Connection Plans November Community Events

November is shaping up to be a very busy month for the volunteers of Pet Connection Programs Inc., a maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla.

On Friday, November 5, volunteers and puppies will visit one of Buffalo’s most historically significant buildings — the Larkin at Exchange Building — from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Spirit of Children Program Brings Halloween Party to Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo

Spirit Halloween Volunteers put on their costumes and brought Halloween cheer to the patients and families of Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo this past Tuesday, October 19. Pumpkin painting, costume parades, Halloween games and crafts offer a temporary escape for the young patients.

The Spirit of Children program was launched in 2006 and is dedicated to bringing fun and funding to Hospital Child Life Departments during the Halloween season and all year long. Volunteer Spirit Halloween employees bring Halloween celebrations to the hospitals so kids can enjoy the holiday. Since its inception, Spirit of Children has raised more than $14,000 for the Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo to date.

Annette and Colin McMahon Chair the 2010 Festival of Trees

Annette and Colin McMahon, MD, chairpersons of the Festival of Trees, are preparing for the open of the 33rd holiday season event benefiting Women & Children’s Hospital which starts November 19 and runs until December 3 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel located at 2 Fountain Plaza, Buffalo 14202. It will be open 24 hours each of these days for people to come and experience the Glittering Wonderland of elegance and charm.

Sponsored by CGF Anesthesiology, Mark IV Industries Foundation and TOPS Friendly Markets, the Festival of Trees is Western New York’s premier holiday event, featuring decorated trees, wreaths, swags and mantle pieces on display and a Boutique filled with holiday home décor and gifts. It also serves as a significant fundraising event for Women & Children’s Hospital.

Blessed Sacrament in Town of Tonawanda Holding First-Annual Fall Craft Show

TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. --  Blessed Sacrament Church at 263 Claremont Ave., is holding its first-ever Fall Craft Show on Saturday, November 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, November 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Enjoy a Chiavetta’s BBQ on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. and homemade chili on Sunday. Selected handmade crafters will display their wares at the Parish Center (blue building).
