Athletes and Special Guests are Part of the Buffalo Auto Show’s Impressive Lineup

Current members of the Buffalo Bandits, former stars of the Buffalo Sabres, superheroes and larger-than-life characters are all scheduled to appear at the 2017 Buffalo Auto Show! Western New York’s premier new vehicle automotive event, the Auto Show will celebrate its annual return to the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center Feb. 9-12.

Three members of the Buffalo Bandits — Ryan Benesch, Dhane Smith and David Brock — will appear at the Auto Show from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, to sign autographs and have photos taken with their fans. 

On Saturday, Feb. 11, former Buffalo Sabres superstars Danny Gare, Don Luce and Craig Ramsay will reunite to sign autographs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Guests will be entitled to one free autograph per player.

Beckett Card Grading, Authentication Event Coming to Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles

Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles will host representatives from Beckett Grading Services and Beckett Authentication Services from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the store, located at 794 French Road, Cheektowaga.

Beckett Grading Services provides collectors with the most thorough, consistent and accurate grading efforts available in the industry. Your BGS-graded cards will be returned in a unique, protective cardholder. Beckett uses an easy-to-understand one- to 10-point grading scale to rate sports cards, which are graded on four key categories: Centering, corners, edges and surface. Grades from each of these key categories will be considered in determining your card's final overall grade. Beckett also grades non-sports cards, magazines, pocket schedules and gaming cards.

Batavia Downs to Host Sports Collectors Expo in February

A huge lineup of professional athletes — including several Hall of Famers and members of the Buffalo Bills, Braves and Sabres — are scheduled to appear at the Sports Collectors Expo Feb. 18 and 19 in Batavia. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Batavia Downs Gaming Center, 8315 Park Road, Batavia.

Explore Buffalo Announces 2017 Architectural Course

Buffalo is recognized as having one of the best collections of architecture among American cities, with outstanding examples of a wide variety of architectural styles. Join Explore Buffalo for a four-week course on architectural styles to see how the entire city of Buffalo is a true architectural museum. This course will be led by Chuck LaChiusa, Explore Buffalo Board President and creator of BuffaloAH.com.

Each session will be 90 minutes in length, from 7 pm to 8:30 p.m., including a brief break. This course can only be purchased as a whole; individual sessions cannot be purchased separately. Sessions will include the following:

Elmwood Village Winter Market at Buffalo State Adds Exercise Class

An exercise class offered by Buffalo State College senior Molly Lawler will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Saturdays beginning Jan. 14 at the Elmwood Village Winter Market at Buffalo State. Classes will be held in the Buckham Hall atrium at the Rees Street entrance, and participants are asked to bring a bottle of water and yoga mat. Classes will be free of charge; goodwill offerings would be appreciated. A Tabata workout will be featured on Jan. 14.

Lawler, a Health and Wellness major, received her ISCA Personal Training Certification as well as First Aid/CPR from the National Safety Council. AHA certified, she hopes to earn a Strength and Conditioning Certificate and continue her education in the personal training field.

Upcoming Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village Events Will Appeal to Audiences of All Ages

Three upcoming events in February and March will showcase the wide ranging activities that regularly take place at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, located at 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst.

Heritage Village is pleased to announce that it will host its second annual First Ladies Tea from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. The event will pay homage to our region’s female political leaders and recognize local historical figures such as First Lady Abigail Fillmore and First Lady Frances Cleveland. The First Ladies Tea will feature a traditional English tea menu, as well as a performance by Denise Reichard as First Lady Dolley Madison. Tickets are priced at $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers; tables of 10 can be reserved for $300. Reservations are required by Feb. 8. In the event of a snowstorm, this event will be held on Feb. 12.
