Pet Connection Announces Holiday Season Events

Pet Connection Programs Inc. is counting on support from the generous residents of Western New York to make this a happy holiday season. Volunteers from the nonprofit maternity and special care animal shelter located in Marilla will be at several locations throughout Erie County in an effort to raise funds for the care of dozens of dogs and cats in need of loving homes.

Free Family Movie Night in Tonawanda - Toy Story 3!

This Friday, November 26 beginning at 8:30 p.m., bring the family to the Paddock Chevrolet Golf Dome for a free movie! The Town of Tonawanda Youth, Parks and Recreation Department will show Toy Story 3, the perfect movie to wrap up Black Friday.  No need to worry about feeding the kids...snacks and drinks will be available at The Grill @ The Dome.

After a busy Thanksgiving and a day of shopping, bring your lawn chairs and blankets to the Dome and relax with this family favorite. No reservations are necessary for this FREE event.

Old Fort Niagara's Castle by Candlelight

For two nights in December, visitors to Old Fort Niagara will experience the holidays as they were celebrated in early America. Historical characters will bring Christmas past alive with 18th and 19th century holiday recipes and portrayals of colonial-era people. The highpoint of the evening will be a traditional Feu de Joie (firing of joy), a nighttime musket and cannon salute.

Programs will take place from 7:00 pm through 8:30 pm on Saturday, December 11th and Saturday, December 18th. The historic French Castle (built in 1726) will be illuminated entirely by candles, as will the Fort's parade ground. The Fort's log trading post will serve as a colonial tavern complete with hot beverages and period music.

Help ‘Stick it to Cancer’

On Dec. 3, 2004, Lisa Johnson, a 20-year Town of Tonawanda resident, underwent successful surgery in her battle against cancer. To celebrate six years of being cancer-free, she's throwing herself a party, but the community will be the benefactor.

The second annual Stick it to Cancer Blood Drive and Basket Raffle will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at VFW Post 7275, 3741 Walden Ave., Lancaster. Proceeds will be donated to the Town of Tonawanda Paramedics and the American Cancer Society through the 2011 Lancaster Relay for Life.
