Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Announces Annual Poster Competition

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Board of Directors is holding its third annual poster contest to promote the outdoor market’s 2013 season. Entries for the poster competition are due by 5 p.m. Friday, March 8. Whether you’re a student studying the arts, a professional graphic designer or just someone with a creative streak, you’re invited to submit your design for an 11x17-inch color poster that accurately reflects the feel of the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market.

London’s Lifestyle Home Show Will be Bursting With Fresh Ideas

Looking to change things up in your home — a little or a lot? Need some fresh new ideas for the new year? Then visit nearby London, Ontario, from Jan. 25-27 for the annual Lifestyle Home Show!

Bursting with great ideas, this annual event highlights everything that falls under the lifestyle umbrella. Featuring the newest trends and cutting-edge technology, the three-day show boasts approximately 350 exhibitors, nearly 20,000 visitors and over 120,000 square feet of floor space. Presented by the London Home Builders’ Association, guests  will be treated to home- and garden-related exhibitors, seminars, contests, celebrity guests and much more.

Erie County Legislators Lynne Dixon, Joseph Lorigo, John Mills and Edward Rath, in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension – Erie County, are pleased to announce that two informational meetings to highlight the many exciting programs available through 4-H will be held in November. With an extensive list of opportunities available to youths, ages 5-19, the informational meetings will discuss what programs are offered and how to get involved.

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a Western New York tradition featuring more than 35 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local products, is open for the 2012 season. Hours at the open-air market are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. 

Providing musical entertainment on Saturday, Sept. 15, will be Casey Bolles from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the Hutch Tech High School Six String Circus Guitar Ensemble. Wine-tasting will be courtesy of Schulze Vineyards & Winery and Leonard Oakes Estate Winery.

Providing musical entertainment on Saturday, Sept. 8, will be Sara Elizabeth from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Azure James. Wine-tasting will be courtesy of Niagara Landing Wine Cellars and Freedom Run Winery.

Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market to Host Wellness Weekend This Saturday

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, in partnership with The Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo, will host its second Wellness Weekend at the market on Saturday, Aug. 11. In addition to the market’s regular weekly vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local products and produce, the wellness event will feature several health-related vendors and fun activities.

Participating in the Wellness Weekend will be the Erie County Department of Health, Emergency Preparedness, Catholic Health Systems, the Public Policy and Education Fund, Swing Buffalo, Youth Advantage/Salvation Army and The Wellness Institute. Swing Buffalo will offer music and dance lessons, and participating organizations will provide free health information, handouts and item giveaways.
