Winter Market at Horsefeathers Begins Transition to Permanent Vendors

Only two weeks remain to visit the popular Winter Market at Horsefeathers, located at 346 Connecticut St. on Buffalo’s West Side, before it gives way to a new season of the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market in the Elmwood Village. The transition of the Winter Market also continues, as three permanent businesses celebrated a grand opening celebration on Sunday, April 21.

Officially opening their doors to the public on Sunday were Martin Cooks, The Pasta Peddler and Blackbird Sweets. The first floor and basement will eventually host several permanent food-related businesses and will also offer a community kitchen. The upper floors of the 115-year-old building will feature brand new apartments.

The Winter Market will continue its successful run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27 and May 4. Entertaining guests this Saturday will be Sara Elizabeth from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and Porcelain Train from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The market offers a wide variety of local food vendors selling everything from bread, spices, cheese, coffee, biscotti, cupcakes, cookies and eggs to vegetables, fruits, pasta,  salsa, dumplings, meat and wine. Customers will also find homemade soaps, all-natural dog treats and much more.

The Frizlen Group Architects of Buffalo is behind the renovation project of the historic Horsefeathers Building. The award-winning firm is well-known for its green urban restoration projects and has previously completed several major renovation projects in Buffalo.
