 AAA WCNY, AT&T & NYS Police Team Up with WNY Officials to Host Distracted Driving Awareness Day

York State Senators Chris Jacobs and Michael Ranzenhofer, AAA Western and Central New York, New York State Police and AT&T teamed up to raise awareness for AAA’s 100 Deadliest Days (the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when teen crash fatalities historically climb 15 percent compared to the rest of the year), as well as AT&T’s “It Can Wait” public education campaign and NYS distracted driving laws.

Distracted Driving Awareness Day in Western New York was hosted June 1 at AAA WCNY headquarters, where young drivers, parents and all those who visited the Amherst AAA were educated about the dangers of distracted driving.

WBFO and AT&T to present Cyberbullying Facebook Live Event May 9 at 1 pm

WBFO-FM 88.7 and AT&T will present a Facebook Live panel event on cyberbullying on Tuesday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m.

Hosted by WBFO Senior Reporter Eileen Buckley, this online event is not simply to raise awareness of cyberbullying.  This program is about developing strategies that students, teachers and parents can use to minimize cyberbullying. The program will also provide online tools and resources to help facilitate conversations and make a cultural shift around this dangerous behavior.

The panel:

·       Tracy Rodemeyer, the mother of Jamey Rodemeyer, the Williamsville teen who was driven to suicide by cyberbullying in 2011.

·       Amanda Nickerson, Ph.d, Director of UB’s Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse prevention.

·       Daniela Wolfe, a social worker for the Amherst School District and serves as a Dignity Act Coordinator.

Anne Kader, SRES, CRP, has joined the Olear Team at MJ Peterson as a licensed associate real estate broker. In this role, she will provide expert guidance and service to clients who are buying and selling homes throughout Western New York. 

As the daughter of Milton Kader who founded Kader Realty in 1954, Anne brings a lifetime of Western New York real estate experience to this role. She is a Seniors Real Estate Specialist and Certified Relocation Professional, and is also a New York State Licensed Residential Appraiser.

NATIONAL: The FBI Washington Field Office, along with the Fairfax County Police Department and with assistance by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Jamia Antoinee Holland, age 14, of Fairfax County, Virginia.

Jamia Holland was last seen on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Jamia is a black female and has brown hair and brown eyes. She is 5’2” tall and weighs 230 pounds. She was last known to be wearing sky-blue pants, a black bomber jacket, and black sandals. She may be wearing glasses.

Wheatfield NY Auto Accident Update

On 02/12/2017 at 0629 Hrs, the Niagara County 911 Center received a 911 call reporting an injury accident in front of 2765 Niagara Rd in the Town of Wheatfield. Investigation revealed that an eastbound vehicle on Niagara Rd lost control on the slippery roadway and slid sideways across the oncoming lane of traffic and left the north side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a tree on the passenger side in the front yard of 2765 Niagara Rd. The vehicle was occupied by one female who was extricated from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to E.C.M.C.

Update: The name of the female involved in the injury accident on Niagara Rd on 02/12/2017 is Angela M. Calato, 18 Years of age.
