Everything Has a Buffalo Connection: "Dukes of Hazard"

BUFFALO, NY: A January 4th birthday that you may not be aware of is the infamous opportunist  "Boss Hog" or at least the actor playing the role of the corrupt public servant, Mr.  Sorrell Brooke.

Buffalo, NY born Sorrell Booke was born on this date in 1930. His father was in the field of medicine. Booke studied at prestigious colleges; Yale and Columba University and mastered five languages. This study served him well in his work in counter-intelligence during the Korean War. His role and work is best known for is his cast as Jefferson Davis “Boss” Hogg in the television program The Dukes of Hazard.

Booke died of cancer in 1994.

No Frills Buffalo Publishing Releases New Novel From Steve Banko

“For No Good Reason,” a novel from decorated combat veteran Steve Banko, is the latest release from No Frills Buffalo publishing.

Banko served 16 months in combat in Vietnam where he was wounded six times. His awards for heroism included the Silver Star, the nation’s third highest decoration for valor, and four Purple Hearts. He has spent more than two decades as a speechwriter and professional communicator and has also spoken to audiences across the country on the issues of war and peace. His nonfiction work has been included in several anthologies and periodicals. “For No Good Reason” is his first novel.

Banko’s speech focusing on post-traumatic stress among combat veterans received the Grand Prize Award from the Cicero Foundation for the best speech of 2010. He currently resides with his wife, Shirley, in South Buffalo and North Ft. Myers, Fla.

Buffalo Police are asking for the public's help locating a runaway. Missing is Abigail Galley, she is 17 years old, 5'1", 100lbs with hazel eyes and brown/red hair. She was last seen wearing a burgundy flowered top, grey leggins, green/white socks and no shoes. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call 911.
