Because Adorable Makes Any Sunday Great

I first met Petunia one cold winter day, she was tiny and frail. To read Petunia's full story, click here. I think really that any baby animal that is ill pulls your heartstrings. You can't help but want to help. And help is what I did. Amy's Place restaurant is kind enough to keep a small donation jar at their front counter. I've collected nearly enough to sponsor a pig at Farm Sanctuary for a year! Or a goat, or 4 chickens, a sheep, a turkey, 2 ducks, or 2 geese. Each sponsorship means that an animal is cared for for the year, including her food, veterinary care, and anything else she needs. Sponsorships make great gifts, my mother collects roosters, so for her birthday I sponsored a Rooster and a Hen in her name. Mr. Pickles and June are their names. Mr. Pickles likes to be held like a baby, he almost purrs while he relaxes in your arms, a purr chirp I suppose you could call it. June gets nervous around people, so I visit and say hello, but I don't get too close. We've also sponsored Bob Harper Piglet, a piglet  growing into a very pig pig. As a piglet Bob leapt from the transport truck that was carrying him to a "finishing farm", that leap finished his life as a piece of food, and started his life as a pig. We also sponsor a goat named Brooklyn, who was found painted, wandering through the streets of... You guessed it, Brooklyn, NY.

These are only five of the animals at Farm Sanctuary, there are so many more. Recently three calves were rescued, to see their story click here. To sponsor one of the above, or any animal at the farm at Farm Sanctuary click here. The farm is, according to our GPS, and our many trips there and back, only 2 hours and 16 minutes from Downtown Buffalo. Nestled in Watkins Glen there are many sights to see in the area. Unlike any zoo, these animals are free, you don't stand and just look at them behind a fence. You actually get to meet the animals, touch them, sit down with them and relax beside them. The experience of the farm will be well worth the drive, and you'll not soon forget all the faces and fun you had, just a short drive away.
