Toronto Residents Summer Swimming and Skating Season Registration Available Now

Toronto residents will have the opportunity to sign up for City of Toronto summer swimming and skating lessons beginning Saturday, June 7 at 7 a.m. 

Programs fill quickly, so residents are advised to be ready to register at 7 a.m. and have a few backup choices in case their preferred program is already full.

The City of Toronto's Clean Toronto Together program, an interdivisional spring cleanup effort, resulted in the cleanup of many tonnes of litter and other materials from city streets and parks.

During the six-week cleanup, staff from several City divisions removed more than 6,327 tonnes of litter (up from 3,582 tonnes in 2013) and 4,411 square metres of graffiti vandalism.

Grisanti Delivers For Orchard Park: Secures $200,000 For Green Dam Reconstruction

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti, who serves as Chairman of the Senate’s Environmental Conservation Committee, announced today that after working with town officials in Orchard Park he has been able to secure $200,000 to help replace Green Lake Dam.

Green Lake Dam was recently reclassified by the state Department of Environmental Conservation from an intermediate hazard to a high hazard, which drew concerns from many residents and community stakeholders in Orchard Park.

“The re-classification of Green Lake Dam is troubling for the residents of Orchard Park,” said Senator Grisanti. “Green Lake Dam needs to be reconstructed immediately. The funds I was able to secure from the Environmental Protection Fund will help do just that.”

Grisanti Delivers for Hamburg: $75,000 In Environmental Protection Funds Secured For Woodlawn

Senator Mark Grisanti (R,I) announced today that Woodlawn State Beach Park will be receiving $75,000 from the Environmental Protection Fund to help with the Town of Hamburg’s pump station conversion project.

Senator Grisanti, who chairs the Senate’s Environmental Conservation Committee said: Woodlawn State Beach Park is a top issue of mine. I am always looking for ways to help clean up the water so that the residents of Hamburg and other Western New Yorkers can enjoy this great beach.”
