St. Amelia School Principal Receives National Award

(New Orleans) - At the National Catholic Education elementary school dinner on Apr. 26, St. Amelia School principal James Mulé  was honored as one of 12 Catholic educators from across the country as a  2011 Distinguished Principals.

Mulé said, "I strive to foster an atmosphere of worship, as well as a place to share the message of Jesus. The school is a community of faith and service that prepares children to be future leaders.  It is my mission to create an environment that gives all children the opportunity to achieve their fullest personal, spiritual and academic potential."

The NCEA also recognized the DeSales Catholic School Board of Trustees as one of this year’s seven recipients of the NCEA Outstanding Board Award presented to boards, councils and commissions of Catholic education whose work is outstanding, encourages excellence and provides models for other governance groups. There are more than 7,000 Catholic schools in the United States. DeSales Catholic is located in Lockport.

"This incredible recognition is a testament to the tireless efforts of our board and committee volunteers who are unified in the common purpose to provide a rewarding and challenging education to our students inside and outside of the classroom,” said Sam Burrano, DeSales board president.
