It may be difficult to imagine your child sneaking behind your back to use alcohol, but have you considered that they may not have to go behind your back. A phenomenon that many believe is an urban legend is finding its way into mainstream media. Many haven’t heard of this but there are reports that teenagers are taking tampons and soaking them in alcohol and inserting them to get drunk. While this method is commonly found among girls, boys are also engaging in this behavior.

You might be asking yourself "They put what where?!" Many of today’s teens are taking tampons and soaking them in vodka, or other alcohol and then inserting them vaginally or rectally for boys. This trend in use of alcohol is one that many adults think is way beyond what they feel thwy could have dreamed up when they were teenagers.

Here’s my disclaimer: I do not like scary things.

Never in my life have I gone to see a horror movie and for perspective purposes, the movie “Signs” kept me restlessly awake for over a month.

So take that into consideration when I tell you that the idea of the paranormal scares the be-Jesus out of me. 

The funny thing about the paranormal is that it doesn’t care if you are scared, it will exist without you. That was case when I was growing up and is still the case today.

My first memorable experience with the paranormal was when I lived in Alden, NY.  I was just 4 years old at the time and woke up to the sounds of a party going on downstairs in my basement.  By party, I mean people laughing, talking loudly and music playing.  It was loud enough to wake me out of a sound sleep.  As I crept downstairs to sneak a peek at this party, I noticed that the lights were not on.  No one was down there.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.- The Niagara County Department of Health (NCDOH) received confirmation today from the NYSDOH Wadsworth Rabies Laboratory that a raccoon submitted for testing yesterday was rabid. The raccoon had contact with a dog on 20th Street in the City of Niagara Falls and was subsequently captured by a wildlife rehabilitator and euthanized. This is the first rabid ground animal confirmed in the County this year. Previously, only three bats were confirmed as rabid in 2011. Confirmation of rabies in a wild animal in the City of Niagara Falls is unusual. However rare, rabid animals have occasionally been identified within the city over the years since the rabies prevention program began in the county .
